4. Key features

• Martensitic 12-14% Cr grade: hardenability by oil quench, achieves HRC 52-55 after low temperature tempering
• Balanced wear resistance and corrosion resistance at far lower cost than 17-4PH or duplex grades
• Excellent polishability, suitable for mirror 6K and No.4 brushed finish on cutlery and sink panels
• Fully annealed plate machines and welds easily, then hardened after forming to limit distortion
• Magnetic in all conditions, good for tooling and wear part fixtures

5. Typical applications

Cutlery blades and tableware, surgical and dental instruments, plastic mould inserts and mould bases, valve trim and stems, pump shafts, shear blades, food processing knives, wear plates for packaging machinery, sink and kitchen appliance panels.

6. Production and packing

Melted in EF plus AOD, rolled, annealed and pickled, then cut to size or hardened and tempered to the requested hardness. Each plate is marked with heat number and temper condition, wrapped in waterproof paper on a wooden pallet, banded with steel strip, and shipped with a 3.1 mill test certificate.
