||
Marine grade 316L stainless steel sheet adds 2.0 to 3.0 percent molybdenum to the standard 18 8 chemistry, and that single alloying addition is what keeps the surface passive in chloride laden air and salt spray. The molybdenum blocks the pitting and crevice corrosion that ordinary 304 develops within months on a coastal facade or a dockside handrail. The low carbon 316L variant also resists sensitisation at weld seams, so fabricated tanks and frames keep their corrosion resistance in the heat affected zone instead of rusting along the bead. Sheet is supplied cold rolled and annealed with a 2B finish, ready for forming, welding and passivation at the fabricator end.

The grade is specified for salt water exposure: marina walkways, pier handrails, ferry interiors, offshore platform grating, coastal balustrades and swimming pool surrounds. Chemical and process plants use it for storage tanks, heat exchanger shells, piping spools and pump base plates. Because the surface is hygienic and easy to sanitise, the same sheet serves pharmaceutical clean rooms, dairy processing lines, brewery vessels and commercial kitchen benches. Food and beverage fabricators select 316L whenever the product stream is acidic, salty or chlorine based, since 304 simply will not hold passivation under those conditions. Coastal architects also use it for window surrounds and roof flashings where airborne chloride is constant.
Packaging and Quality AssuranceBundles are interleaved with neutral paper to stop fretting between sheets, wrapped in plastic film and strapped to a fumigated wooden pallet built to container dimensions. Export packing is seaworthy and proven on repeated sea voyages into Europe, Southeast Asia and South America. Each lot is inspected for thickness, width, flatness and surface condition before loading, and the mill test certificate, grade certificate and packing list accompany the shipment. SGS or BV third party inspection can be booked at the buyer request. Heat number traceability is maintained from coil through finished sheet, and we support destination re inspection with the original test records.
