Monel K500 Round Bar — Precipitation Hardened Nickel Copper Alloy Rod with High Strength in Seawater

Monel K500 (UNS N05500) is a precipitation hardenable nickel copper alloy produced by adding aluminium and titanium to the Monel 400 composition. After a controlled age hardening treatment the alloy reaches roughly twice the yield strength of Monel 400 while keeping the same outstanding resistance to seawater, hydrofluoric acid, sulphuric acid and alkaline media. Our K500 round bars are hot worked or cold drawn and supplied in the aged condition, machined to bright or peeled finish with dimensional tolerance to ASTM B865.

• Good toughness at low temperature — retains ductility down to cryogenic service temperatures.
• Precise dimensions — turned and polished bars with straightness 1.5 mm/m maximum, ready for automatic screw machining.
• Full traceability — heat number stamped on every bar, EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate with each lot.

Typical Applications

Pump shafts and sleeves, valve stems and trim, marine propeller shafts, impellers, sea water fasteners and bolting, doctor blades for paper machines, oil and gas drill collars and instrumentation housings, springs, gears and worm wheels, chemical processing equipment exposed to hydrofluoric acid.

Processing and Packing

• Cut to length, peeling, centreless grinding, thread rolling and heat treatment services available.
• Each bar wrapped in plastic sleeve, bundled with steel straps, wooden case for export.
• Standard export seaworthy packing suitable for container or air freight.
• Mill test certificate, packing list and certificate of origin supplied with every shipment.
