NM500 Wear Resistant Steel Plate — 500 HBW Abrasion Resistant Steel for High Impact Wear

NM500 is a through-hardened, quenched and tempered wear resistant steel plate with a nominal Brinell hardness of 500 HBW. It is produced to GB/T 24186 and is widely specified as a replacement for ordinary structural plate in areas exposed to severe sliding abrasion, impact and gouging. The balanced chemistry and controlled rolling schedule deliver a hard wear surface together with good toughness, so the plate resists cracking even in thick sections and low temperature service.

Key Features

• 500 HBW nominal hardness — 470 to 530 HBW tested on the plate surface, giving 3 to 5 times the wear life of Q235 mild steel.
• Quenched and tempered through thickness — hardness penetration maintained in thick sections, no soft core.
• Good impact toughness — Charpy V-notch energy of 24 J minimum at -20 °C makes it suitable for cold climate mining operations.
• Excellent weldability — low carbon equivalent of 0.65 max allows fabrication with standard low hydrogen consumables.
• Flat and accurate — plate flatness controlled by roller levelling, ready for CNC cutting without additional straightening.
• Cut to size service — plasma, laser and water jet cutting to your drawing, burr-free edges and bevelled preparations available.
